Number 1.

And so it begins…  The journey from the first time I thought about this project to fruition has been long… Years…  Let’s be real, several years!  I have mulled ideas, written posts in my mind while training for marathons, scribbled topics into my phone while walking my dog and spent days googling ‘how to’ guides for building a site.  But here it is.  I did it! That in itself is a huge accomplishment I am so very proud of.  I have no background in web design, and my only computer training was the typing class I took in high school.  That said, I am smart and tenacious and know the world needs what I can create, even if I need to google the CSS to do it.

This has been brewing so long I honestly struggle where to start.  So lets do it… In the end you start where you are, the beginning.  This is Number 1

Let’s get the basics out of the way, questions like:  who the heck am I, why am I doing this, what are my hopes for this?  Throughout the process I have honestly tried to talk myself out of it many times.  Why would I choose to put myself out there for scrutiny? Because I can’t stop thinking about it.  I knew I had to do it.

I am a sports medicine physician currently living in Los Angeles California.  I am from the Midwest and relocated for a new job in January 2019. As a sports medicine physician I care for all levels of athletes from high school, college and professional teams to weekend warriors and those wanting to get fit for the first time.  I see the challenges in medicine firsthand and honestly think I have some pretty cool experiences with a very unique platform to share.  I am a doctor who believes in health, fitness and wellness.  I will share my knowledge and experiences with you. I also live a pretty unique life in LA, one that I never imagined, and want to share that too.  I have the amazing opportunity to stand on sidelines and in locker rooms with some of the greatest athletes of our time, and I want you to see that world as well.

My main goal is to cultivate this into a useful platform.  A resource that takes the knowledge and experiences from inside the walls of my office and from on the sideline to you where you are.  Some of this site will be dedicated to medicine and educational topics; I want you to be able to learn something.  But, some of it will also be dedicated to sharing a unique perspective while living my life and practicing medicine because that is fun too.

At the end of the day (and at the beginning) I am pretty sarcastic, sometimes skeptical, ragingly independent and always honest.  I drink too much coffee and love my French bulldog (he will undoubtedly make too many appearances for which I am never going to be sorry).

And finally, the rules of the road.  I am a doctor. But I am not your doctor. None of this is specific advice for you nor should it be taken that way.  Any topics discussed are those that I hope you can apply to your life by working with your own medical providers.

On a personal note, while I promise to honest and to share my opinions with you, remember this is my job and my life. I am not perfect, and I promise not to pretend to be! Sometimes I don’t wash my hair for a week and eat ice cream for dinner. I will share that with you too.  I believe we are all humans in the end. How I talk to my friends is how I talk to my patients.  Please be nice and I will too.  Ask questions. Tell me what you want to hear.  Follow along, and let’s create something really special.  Maybe in the end we can both learn something.  Maybe you will read this and it will better your life.  Or maybe I will write it and it will change mine.

Wow, that gives me chills.

Cheers!
